Hydroecology and Engineering (HEE) is the official publication of the Institute of Hydroecology, School of Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering at Wuhan University. As a peer-reviewed academic journal, it focuses on interdisciplinary research exploring the evolutionary processes of the Earth’s ecosystem and its sustainability under human engineering interventions. This includes investigations into the performance and properties of ecological integrity, the impacts of engineering construction on ecosystem processes, the integration of engineering and nature, the sustainability of natural-engineering hybrid ecosystems, and the application of emerging technologies such as AI and big data to enhance understanding of human society’s sustainability. Our core mission is to provide a global platform for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange innovative ideas, cutting-edge research, and practical solutions in these critical areas.
To accommodate various research outputs, the journal accepts:
• Original Research Papers: Novel findings from empirical studies, experiments, or modeling. Review Articles: Synthesis of current knowledge and identification of future research directions.
• Case Studies: Practical applications of hydroecological or engineering strategies in real-world scenarios.
• Short Communications: Preliminary results or timely observations of scientific significance.
All submissions undergo the peer review process. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two independent experts to ensure scientific rigor and methodological soundness.
The journal will offer a 100% discount on articles from ISS10.
As a media partner of the 10th International Symposium on Sturgeon (ISS10), we align closely with its theme, “Ensuring a shared future for humans and sturgeons.” We aim to amplify the symposium’s goals by fostering dialogue on sturgeon conservation, aquatic ecosystem sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration between hydroecology and engineering.
We encourage ISS10 participants—researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders—to submit their work on sturgeon biology, habitat restoration, aquaculture, and related hydroecological topics to our journal. Publishing in Hydroecology and Engineering offers a platform to share insights with a global audience and contribute to advancing sturgeon conservation worldwide.
